Tinder:Swipe Proud

So let’s be real. Tinder is that app that you hide on homepage 4 out of 4 in the corner. There’s a reason that half of the guys write “We can tell your friends we met at a coffee shop” in their bio. When you’re in desperate need of some loving (and let’s be honest ladies: we don’t all meet Prince Charming in a coffee shop) Tinder is the answer to our prayers.
Contrary to popular belief, it’s not just a hook up platform. One of my closest friends had a solid and lengthy relationship with a guy she met on Tinder. Although it’s not to say that many don’t just want a quick romp in the hay, some truly are looking for commitment and their own Tinderella story. Coming back home for the summer, I know that the same usual suspects aren’t going to cut it. Tinder is a way of expanding horizons in what seems to otherwise be a barren wasteland and if nothing else, locking in some definite spicy summer romance.
So bottom line, move that app from its remote corner of your iPhone and bring it up to the front. We’re all swiping left and right so be proud and get it gurrrl.

Nail Nuances

I watch my metallic red acrylic nails dance their way across the keyboard, with a satisfying clickety clack. The flash of red and steady beat of my drumming nails gives me a feeling of femininity and importance. Call it mind games, but I feel pretty damn hot with a good paint job on my talons. What is it about a  manicure that can completely change a woman’s outlook?

For me, acrylics are a way to immediately dress up my look without even putting in effort. Say I’m going to the grocery store late at night and can’t be bothered to change out of my pajamas. I can look down at those Jessica Rabbit fingernails and flash them at the cashier as I hand over my $3.50 for my cheap frozen cake. In a desperate attempt to show him I’m not a slob. “Hey girl,” I think to myself, “chin up, buttercup, at least your nails are on point.”

The Rise of the Birks

Last summer, I purchased my first pair of Birkenstock sandals and I have to say it was one of my best fashion purchases of the year. They provide amazing arch support and their thick and chunky style seems to go with just about any outfit. For the Croc lovers, they have the same comfortable feel, but are much more publicly acceptable…sorry but as much I want to bring them back, Crocs just aren’t going to happen. They had their time.
Anyway, with wonderful arch support, their soles gradually form and are are trained to contour to your feet, making it feel like an extension of your foot, not a clunky shoe weighing you down. I don’t think there is a more comfortable and practical shoe on the market right now, so with the warm weather on it’s way, I highly suggest investing in some Birkenstocks which are becoming more and more popular. The Uggs of the summer perhaps?

6 Things I Don’t Understand About The Fat Acceptance Movement

Thought Catalog

For the author’s follow-up to this article, click here.
First, a little information about me, because I’m sure the first thing people will do on reading this is make assumptions about who I am: I am an American woman who is recently familiar with the Fat Acceptance movement via blogs and online articles, but who grew up in a slightly pre-internet era where such a thing didn’t really exist. I am a “normal” size, but fluctuate between about a 6 and a 10. I eat well enough, work out two or so days a week and try to walk as much as possible. I am by no means a health nut, but health has always been relatively important to me and my family. I’ve lived outside the country, and seen the way other cultures deal with weight and body, but right now I’m based in the U.S.. I wouldn’t…

Musical Musings//week3

In a girly mood so here are some of my current favorite female artists….

Shower/Becky G

Can guarantee this will be on the radio within a matter of weeks. The lyrics are cliche, but the chorus is too catchy for words.

Habits(Stay High)/Tove Lo

haunting. this song speaks to me emotionally in so many ways.

Girls Chase/Ingrid Michaelson

I have loved Ingrid since the first time I heard her in 8th grade and probably always will. Her songs are timeless and relatable to all ages.

Class pick me up summer song. Unfortunately on the radio ALL the time, but hey, what are ya gonna do

I Do/Colbie Caillat

Ever since “Bubbly”, I’ve adored this girl. Youthful and fun.
